We are huge fans of California. California is almost a country within a country!
Stretching from the Pacific Ocean starting on the Mexican border all the way up through San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, to the Oregon coast, and running along Nevada and Arizona. California is home to some of the most amazing state parks such as Yosemite with it’s breathtaking vistas. Along the “Big Sur” drive you can embrace the world famous Californian Red Wood trees on one side of the road and some world class beaches on the other side!
If you decide to stay in San Francisco, why not venture out on a day tour to the Napa Valley vineyards? Or skip across to Bay to Alcatraz Prison and enjoy a dinner cruise on your way back to the mainland? If you feel energetic, hire a bike for the day and pedal across the Golden Gate bridge. Downtown will always be interesting with a fantastic Chinatown which just buzzes.
You could perhaps rent a car for a few days and scoot out to Yosemite National Park . You can reside in some interesting historic hotels or maybe get back to nature………..and go camping! On your way back….Sonoma Valley or Napa might be just the trick for an overnight.
On the wheels again, maybe take in one of the worlds most famous drives – the Big Sur. Scooting by the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Course, or 17 mile drive, home to some of the deepest pockets in the United States. Working your way along the coast to Santa Barbara…..with all that ocean try some jet skiing or surfing……..
When you finally arrive in Los Angeles, Disneyland – “the happiest place on earth”, Universal Studios, and Beverley Hills all await! Keep going a wee bit more and you arrive into San Diego which has something for everyone. Love it! As the Beach Boys once said “good vibrations”.
